Must See Documentary: “The Black Jacket”

The Black Jacket is a documentary film that follows Dr. Aquil Basheer, A Better LA funded partner and international violence reduction expert as he trains Interventionists in South L.A. All Intervention Specialists funded by A Better LA are required to graduate from Aquil’s “Professional Community Intervention Training Institute” (PCITI). Follow Aquil as he leads a class of ex-gang members and community outreach workers through the 16 week training. The mission: Peace. The method: Changing the violent mindsets of influential gang members one person at a time. The result: Hundreds less murders per year, 87 warring neighborhoods communicating and negotiating peace agreements that stop bloodshed before it starts. Aquil's teaching method and course are being adopted in cities throughout the world. He recently spoke at the United Nations in Geneva to a standing ovation.
