Creating A Healthier and Better LA

Last week, we launched A Healthier and Better LA and brought healthcare to 50 outreach workers serving in Los Angeles' most at-risk communities.

Actress and activist Sharon Stone kicked off the first phase of the program last Wednesday at A Better Thrift Shop in Huntington Park.

While ABLA has traditionally attempted to address gang violence through intervention, dealing only with gang violence is an incomplete solution to a complex problem.

As a result, A Healthier Better LA was born to address a driver of a disenfranchised community-complete lack of access to affordable health care.

Ultimately, it is ABLA's goal to raise $1 million for this cause and register more than 300 Angelenos and their families.

"The dedication and devotion our gang prevention and intervention workers demonstrate each day has greatly reduced violence and its long-term effects in our Los Angeles communities.

Now, with this new program, it is time for us to ensure and protect the very workers who changed, put their lives on the line to protect us." -Sharon Stone
